So many toys - so little time. What you purchase for your youngsters this holiday season could make the difference between a safe celebration and potential injury. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, 13 tots died in 1997 from accidents related to dangerous toys. Another 141,000 wound up in hospitals.

Your best defense is good common sense.Read labels and steer clear from toys that have sharp edges or small removable parts. The American Academy of Pediatrics and other child-advocates also offer additional precautions that may not have occurred to you. Santa would approve.
