Arlin Roth presents the 2010 Schalles PA Pinner
Award
to Evan Craig at the Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic
Craig Wins Schalles PA Pinner Award
Abington Heights
senior, Evan Craig, has been named the 2010 Schalles Pennsylvania Pinner
Award winner. Sponsored by the Pittsburgh Trophy Company, the award is
presented each year by the Pennsylvania Wrestling Newsmagazine to the
high school wrestler with the highest pin percentage. To be eligible
for the Schalles Award, a wrestler must qualify for the PIAA
Championships and have a minimum of twenty bouts, excluding forfeits.
After finishing the 2009 season as state champion at 285 lbs.,
Craig pinned 39 of 42 opponents on his way to winning his second PIAA
championship including four straight pins at the state tournament.
Craig opened the season with twenty one consecutive pins, excluding
forfeits, and did not have a bout go the distance until mid January.
The pins came early and often as Craig decked twenty six opponents in
the first period including thirteen in under a minute. Finishing his
senior season in dominating fashion, Craig went perfect with a record of
50-0 and an astounding pin percentage of 93% (excluding eight forfeits
which are not counted in pin percentage calculations). He finished his
high school career with 165 wins and 115 pins. He also finishes as a
four time PIAA state placewinner with an 8th, 2nd and two first place
finishes.
